Education Committee (Collaborative with PHIUS)

Mission: Established to provide guidance to continually improve materials used to educate
the consumer, the professions of the building industry and individuals learning to implement
the Passive House Standard.
Monitoring and Verification Committee (Collaborative with PHIUS)
Chair: Peter Schneider peter.schneider@phaus.org
Mission: To maintain the highest level of integrity among Passive House projects, this
committee designs and maintains the protocols for post construction monitoring and
verification. This ensures that the intended design was properly executed in the field, and
provides peace of mind to building owners that the intended Passive House project is performing to the standard as promised.
Public Education and Promotion (Marketing)
Chair: Mark Miller mark.miller@phaus.org
Mission: To educate the general public, building professional students, and charitable
organizations about the Passive House Standard and it’s benefits to people, buildings and the environment. Working to increase demand for Passive House projects, thus paving the road to bring Passive House into the mainstream.
Web site Committee (Ad hoc)
Chair: Jeff Dinkle jeff.dinkle@phaus.org
Mission: The initial design, maintenance and continual improvement of the PHA-US Web site.
To make this an extremely useful tool to the curious consumer market and to be a
resource to assist the practitioners of the Passive House Standard. To exponentially increase
the number of continuing education opportunities of the PHA-US membership by allowing local
Passive House events to be broadcast to all members of the community around North America.
Fundraising & Finance Committee (Includes Membership sub-committee)
Chair: Carl Covey carl.covey@phaus.org
Mission: To design and maintain the materials and processes to welcome new members into
the Alliance. Included is the design of materials and methods to network with members of the
building industry, the energy efficiency community and all like-minded entities who share the
over-arching mission of the Passive House movement, to reduce pollution and to use our natural resources wisely for the success of all future generations.
Government and Codes Committee
Chair: Michael Hindle michael@chesapeakepassivehouse.com
Mission: To educate local Building Departments and Public Officials of the Passive House
Standard and it’s benefits to citizens and the environment. To open doors in existing national
and local codes to allow projects to be built fully to the standard. To lobby for projects built
to the Passive House Standard to receive available government energy efficiency program
rebates. To lobby for more energy efficient rebate programs on behalf of the consumers who
choose to implement the Standard on their building projects.
